Native trees can provide shelter, wind breaks, soil stabilization, food, and  shade, 

Abies grandis
GRAND FIR
This large, but graceful conifer is easily distinguished from other firs, as the needles grow in two distinct rows.
Acer circinatum
VINE MAPLE
Known as a small deciduous tree or large shrub. Excellent fall colour and compact growth when grown in full sun.
Acer glabrum
DOUGLAS MAPLE
Hardy deciduous tree. Displays bright yellow fall colour. Prefers well draining soil.
Acer macrophyllum
Bigleaf Maple
Large, quick growing, deciduous maple. Very large leaves, great for shade. Tolerates moist to dry soil conditions.
Alnus rubra
RED ALDER
Quick-growing deciduous tree that grows well under moist conditions. This is a nitrogen fixing tree.
Betula papyrifera
PAPER BIRCH
Large deciduous tree with strips of white peeling bark provides winter interest. Quick growing, prefers moist but well draining soil.
Chamaecyparis nootkatensis
YELLOW CEDAR
Large, evergreen grows up to 50M tall. WEEPING
Corylus cornuta
BEAKED HAZELNUT
Small, deciduous multi-branching tree. Requires well draining soils.
Crataegus douglasii
BLACK HAWTHORN
Deciduous tree with 3cm long thorns. Small white flowers in spring followed by clusters of red-purple berries enjoyed by birds.

SITKA SPRUCE
Blueish needles, this evergreen grows very large. Tolerates a wide range of soils, but doesn't tolerate shade well.

SHORE PINE
This native evergreen found from Washington-Alaska usually on exposed rocky slops near the coast. It grows in a contorted or bent manner.
Populus tremuloides
TREMBLING ASPEN
Fast growing, hardy deciduous tree. Provides habitat for a variety of wildlife. Good choice to protect against soil erosion.
Populus trichocarpa
BLACK COTTONWOOD
This fast growing pioneer species is commonly found growing along waterways in a variety of soil conditions.
Prunus virginiana
CHOKECHERRY
Deciduous tree, produces small red-black bitter tasting cherries that birds enjoy.
Pseudotsuga menziesii

Large, fast growing coniferous tree. Most commonly grown as a Christmas Tree.
